Something I would add (to avoid confusion): "Borrowed chords are distinguished from modulation by being brief enough that the tonic is not lost or displaced, and may be considered brief or transitory modulations, and may be distinguished from secondary chords as well as altered chords. borrowed chord suggests the sound of its own mode without actually switching to that mode."

One of my favorite uses of sus chords is to ambiguate whether a progression is major or minor. It's freeing to be able to switch back and forth, from chord to chord. eg: csus2, asus2, csus2, fsus2, aflatsus2, bflatsus2, gsus2, back to c

I have the sheet music for this etude. I can play each hand perfectly on their own. But my brain can not combine the 2's count in the left hand with the 3's count in the right hand and play both hands together.

I keep breaking strings when I try to tune my high string to A on my Plectrum banjo and Baritone Uke. I really need a tenor guitar.

Parts of this scale remind me of Scriabin’s later music, especially his late sonatas, Poemes and Mysterium. I was aware he used some combination of the octatonic and Lydian dominant scales, but was always unclear exactly how, if anyone has any info on that, I’d be intrigued. Thankyou for the great content, very informative and interesting.

What fascinates me is that adding sharps makes the melody darker, while adding flats makes it more smooth and buttery. Counter intuitive.

The feed is serving me up some of your earliest videos. I really liked this one, especially given that I'm both a fiction writer and a composer. I love the framework that the melody is the character.

Ive studied this song...the chords/voicings i found were a little different...but it sounds good no matter how its played...the chords/melody/rhythm has been a $mash 3X...Belinda, Bon Jovi "You Give Love a Bad Name" Ava Max "Kings & Queens"

It's beyond weird to play chords in 5ths, unless you're a mandolin/cello/ukulele player. Another tenor guitar aspect is, alternatively, to tune to the top 4 strings of a guitar.
